The American Eagle Society (AES) was founded in England in 1992. It acts as a parent organisation for three groups united by their interest in the accurate and authentic portrayal of military and civilian participants in the American Civil War, 1861-1865. The Society's activities consist of creating living history camps with both military and civilian impressions, drill and musketry displays, historical research and the reproduction of uniforms, clothing and accoutrements of the period to the highest level of authenticity.

In addition, a growing contingent of civilian re-enactors of both sexes add a further dimension to our activities. Strong links are maintained with like-minded groups in continental Europe and the United States. Details of these can be found in the Links section of this site. Members of the AES travel frequently to continental Europe and the US to participate in events organised by our fellow enthusiasts.
